The supplied chart illustrates the British industrial personnel distribution in various fields in two particular years : 1841 and 2011.
Overall, with 36%, manufacturing made up the biggest percentage of employees of the UK in 1841, whereas in 170 years later, services accounted for the dominated proportion of 81%.
Regarding to the transferral of workforce sharing, there was an upward tendency in the percentage of workers working in services and construction. Specifically, from 33%, employee proportion of services increased by 48%, making up a massive gap. that of construction in 1841 was 3% less than in 2011.
On the contrary, downward trend was observed in the distribution of workers in the other industries, namely manufacturing, agriculture/fishing and energy/water. According to the chart, the figures of manufacturing declined by three fourth of that in 2011. Both of the data belonging to agriculture/fishing and energy/water ended at 1% in the second year of the survey. Interestingly, the proportion of personnel in energy/water industry always bottomed the chart, staying at 3% and 1% in 1841 and 2011 respectively.
