Question: Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage.
bees exist on the earth in 200 million years ago
The listening and the reading materials have a debate on if the evidence of the fossil structures resemble to bee nests have been made by bees. The writer puts forward 3 reasons for not supporting this proposal, which are refuted by the following speaker.
To start with, the author suggests that not finding any fossils of real bees due to 200 years ago shows that they could not live in that time and only known ones are due to 100 million years ago. On the contrary, the professor views this issue from an opposite angle. According to her, In that period the trees did not produce the right kind of resine for preserving the bees. As a result, the bees might exist but did not have the chance for preserving.
The second point offered by the penman is that in 200 million years ago, there were not any kind of flowering plants. Because the beers are dependent to them for making honey, thus the beers also could not live in that time. On the other hand, the orator casts doubt on this assumption by saying that it is possible that bees were lived before the flowering plants by using other source of plants for providing foods like pine trees.
Last, the passage proposes that fossil evidences of bees'nests in Arizona in compare with the developed bees' nests is different. The recent nests have a cap with a spiral shapes, which are not seen in the former's. However, the speaker holds an different view. She explains that chemical composition of special water-proof material is similar in both group.
In all, the ideas mentioned in the speech counter the opinions in the text inthat not existing the appropriate resine for preserving bees' body, being other food sources for bees instead of flowering plants, and similarity between chemical composition of nest for primary and modern bees show the fossil structures may have built by bees.
