The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billion) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.
The bar graph shows the total number of telephone calls in UK. From the graph it is evident that the use of Local-fixed line has been dominant over the years. With about 70 billion minutes of call in 1995, it increased in a steady manner, that peaked in the year 1999, after which it started to decrease. Finally in 2002 the use of them became about the same as 1995.
Then there are national and international-fixed line. In 1995 the amount of its’ usage was about half that of the local phone calls. Over time, the graph shows a gradual increase in its usage. In 2002, roughly 60 billion minutes of national and international phone calls were made.
After the two major types of calls comes the use of mobiles. In 1995, a negligible time was spent in UK using mobiles. Only about 4 billion minutes of calls were made in mobiles, which is not even close as compared to the other types of calls. Although the use of mobiles increased in a gradual fashion, its’ significant rise started roughly in the time from 1999 to 2000. After that till 2002, the amount of mobile calls have secured a significant portion in the statistics of the telephone calls in UK, which is about 50 billion minutes.
So to conclude, the graph shows gradual increase and decrease of local phone calls, accompanied by the increase in the amount of national and international calls. Also there is a dramatic increase in the use of mobiles in the time near 2002.
