Although you have never formally studied computing, you have always been interested in computers. You have just read about a computer course that really interests you, but it is only for people who have completed an elementary course.

Write a letter to the college enrolment officer. In your letter

• explain why you are writing

• describe your circumstances

• ask if a special exception can be made for you so you can enrol in the course

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to find out about the details of the new computer course made available by the college in their offered computer programs.

I am a student of first year from B.com department who joined the college last month. When I joined, I enquired about the plethora of courses offered by the college, but nothing interested me. I recently read an article on the college notice board about the new course on graphics been made available. Graphics is something which really stimulates me, and I enjoy doing it in my leisure time. Also, I am really interested in learning and building my professional career in the same field. Unfortunately, this course is only for people who have completed an elementary course.

I shall be grateful if a special exception can be made for my enrolment. Waiting for your positive response.

Yours faithfully,

Rajesh Kumar
