The process below illustrates how ethanol fuel is manufactured from corn.
Looking at the chart, it is obvious that there are nine stages included in this process. It begins with the collection of corn and ends with the distribution of ethanol fuel to gas stations.
At the first step, corn is collected from corn fields before being stored in warehouses. Next, the stored corn is milled and mixed with water. Subsequently, the mixture is poured into a cylindrical cooking machine and cooked under intense heat. After being cooked for 4 hours, the mixture is left for fermentation in 2 days.
At the following stage, the mixture is liquidised and solid waste is released as a by-product. This step is followed by the purification of the liquidised mixture, which is now being called ethanol, under laboratory conditions for another 5-hour period. The process ends by the delivery of ethanol fuel to gas stations after being stored in large containers.
