Teacher were more appreciated and valued by society in the past than they were nowadays.
Throughout history, learning has become an appreciated effort as people understood it is the foundation for later improvements. Hence, teachers who led the learners through a sure-fire way became a significant role as well. The value of this role nowadays, not only has not decreased, but also is highly appreciated since, education is a higher priority for people in comparison to the past and the effects of teachers on one's personality is undeniable. The first aspect of current discussion demanding a keen contemplation is that today human beings depend entirely on teachers for gaining basic knowledge which is taught in schools. In the past few people were able to study, and hence their ideas about teachers and the concept of learning differed Breatly from ours. Since the ordinary people, did not have studied themselves, they did respect teachers for their knowledge; thus, it might seem the society appreciated teachers greater. But the truth is that, as going to school and studying became widespread, and people understood the huge effects of this stratum in their futures' developments, they appreciated teachers in a different way, not for their knowledge, as themselves were educated, but for their principle role in country's progression
Moreover, the role of a teacher in shaping one's personality is crystal clear to everyone. The busy and preoccupied today parents, seldom find a free time spending with their children, teaching them the life concepts. Hence, it is up to the teachers to develop students personality by sharing desirable characteristics. This effective role has confined our attention more than before, making us to appreciate and value it as well.
However, considering other aspects of the article leads me to mention that although teachers affect society in a number of ways, by the development of technology, other means of learning are offered that may be considered as lowering the value of teachers. The internet has provided many opportunities for people to study and learn a variety of subjects easily. the online classes for instance, do let students to participate in different courses; but to tell the truth, they cannot still take the place of schools and teachers, as they are much more valuable sources of knowledge, reliable ones actually, that give a wider perspective while discussing subjects and answering to the questions. Hence, teachers do have their prior value, in spite of other technological methods for learning.
All in all, to put everything in a nutshell in my vantage point, it is nothing more than a misunderstanding to say people appreciate teachers less than before. Actually their value has risen due to the increase in people knowledge about their influence in society. Technology has its own place in people's lives, maybe as an assistance, but in my opinion can never take teachers' place.
