The pie charts below show the percentage of housing owned and rented in the UK in 1991 and 2007.
The pie chart elucidates how the distribution of accommodation, as well as renting percentage, has modified in the UK, over 16 years period from 1991 to 2007.
Overall, despite a pretty increase from the past, the percentage of homeowners was the highest rather than the others, whilst despite there was a decline in the proportion, the social housing was the least in both years.
To begin with, the number of homes considerably climbed from 22 million in 1991 to 27 million in 2007, with 5 million rises. The rate of homeowners was the biggest by experiencing more than 50 percent while social and private renting made up 30, 20 percent respectively in 1991. However, social housing was the least preferred by presumably 15 percent in this period.
Moreover, there was a slight jump in home owning to compare to the past with 20 percent and made up 70 percent after 16 years. Subsequently, social and private renting quite reduced to 20 and 10 percent in 2007. Unfortunately, social housing has also declined to 5 percent in that year.
