The table below shows the proportion of income spent on 4 common items in the UK in 1998
The table illustrates the amount of earnings spent by different age groups of citizens in UK on four products in the year 1998.
Overall, adults, men and women spent maximum on food and least on videos. However, children, boys and girls spent more in music and least in food except girls who were least interested in electronic equipment.
Adults expenditures were about 25% on food products among which women were at 39% and men at 14% whereas adults spent least on video items at merely 1% in which men and women contributes 2% and 0.5% respectively. In addition, both were equally interested in music and spent 5% only.
Moreover, children were more inclined towards music and hence expenditure is maximum up to 39% in which boys and girls were spending almost similar at 38% and 40%. On the contrary, children did not prefer food items mostly because they were spending only 10% on it. Albeit, girl were not interested in electronic equipment as they spent nearly 5%.
