The chart below shows the intake of various nutrients and the average person in the UCS consumes in each meal
The pie chart showcases the percentage of the nutrients; sodium, saturated fat and added sugar consumed by the average person in the USA in meals and snacks together daily.
The sodium and saturated fat are highest in the dinner, whereas sugar contributes majorly to the snacks consumed by the population. The breakfast contribution is, however, close to the same for all the three mentioned nutrients when compared.
Dinner has the giant pie for sodium and saturated fat, which is approximately forty percent and the second-highest contributor in sugar intake. On the other hand, snacks have the majority of added sugar intake of 42 percent, and sodium and saturated fat are consumed 14 percent and 21 percent, respectively.
The intake of all three nutrients falls in the range of fourteen to sixteen percent for breakfast. In contrast, lunch is second highest for sodium and saturated fat intake with twenty-nine and twenty-six percent respectively, also only nineteen percent of sugar in lunch.
