The diagram below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station.
The diagram delineates the process of the electricity generation in a hydroelectric power station. The main essential components in the production are dams, generator and reversible turbines.
Overall, the river water is used for the generation of the electricity and the intake of the water is from the dams. Moreover, Generator plays a vital role in providing electricity through the power lines.
The diagram illustrates that the river water present in the High-level reservoir is processed through the dams. However, an essential point stated is that, the door of the dam used for the intake of the river water is opened at the daytime only. Moreover, the flow of the water generates the electricity and, it is passed further in the Power Station.
The Power station consists of Reversible Turbines that operates the generator in the day and the water is then, passed in the Low-level reservoir. However, during the nighttime, the Reversible turbines pumps the water into the high-level reservoir. Finally, the generator supplies the electricity to the National grid through power lines.
