The diagram illustrates the process of smoking at a home smokery and demonstrates the arrangement inside it.
Overall, it is noticeable that the process of smoking consists of 3 main stages.
As seen from the diagram, it is clear that the smokery contains 4 parts: 2 lids, logs, a pipe built underground and a box situated on the ground level.
To begin with, one of the two lids remained open throughout the process to enable the air flow, this is stage one and the other lid stayed closed to maintain the air inside. Moving on, in stage two logs are burnt underground to create smoke which will be transported through the pipe leading to the box on the ground level. According to the diagram, the box which is located above ground is to hang fishes, and the last stage is to let the hanging fishes absorb the smoke created from burning logs from the second stage.
