The line graphs illustrate the changes in the number of admissions both for the native and foreign students in the universities of Australia for a decade (from 2001 to 2010).
Overall, it can be emergent from the graphs that total university enrolment for locals was significantly higher than that of the overseas students. However, the trend of getting admission for foreign students showed dramatic growth.
The admission numbers for pupils from overseas commenced around 10,000 in the year 2001, which showed a gradual rise and become double in 2006. This figure further went up steadily and reached about 40,000 in the final year. Conversely, for the Australian students, admission started from just around 180,000 at the beginning of the period, fluctuated between the range of about 20,000 for the whole period and finally reached 200,000 in 2010.
On the other hand, looking at the total number of enrolled students, 20,000 international students got admitted in 2001, which increased sharply and ultimately became three times in 2010. Nevertheless, the number of total enrolment for Australian students started way higher at 400,000 in 2001, showed a steady rise and reached a peak of 600,000 in 2007, which remained the same until the end of the period.
