The prices of black and white televisions were around 110,000 Yen per one in 1953 before experiencing a significant downward trend to 40,000 Yen. The color television started to sell in 1963, with 100,000 Yen for each. Over the following 20 years, the price of color television was higher than that of white and black one, under 50,000 Yen compared to 20,000 Yen.
The monthly wage which Japanese earned in 1953 was under 20,000 Yen. The price of one white and black television was more than five times as high as the monthly salary of the Japanese. By 1983, the figure for Japanese had experienced a dramatic upward pattern, a jump of 50,000 Yen.
