The diagram below demonstrates the intake of several kinds of junk food in Australia among young people from 1975 to 2000.
Overall, it can be seen that consumption of pizza and hamburgers showed significant rise over the period given, whereas the number of eaten fish and chips fell. At the beginning of the period fish and chips were the most popular products, but it was replaced by hamburgers, that became the most prevalent food among teenagers in the final years, and even pizza was in bigger demand than fish and chips starting from 1990.
According to the illustration, at the start fish and chips were eaten 100 times per year and neglect a small grown between 1980 and 1985 the figure dramatically dropped to about 40 times by 2000. Thus, the highest point was reached in 1975.
In sharp contrast to this, the intake rates of two other types of fast food surged. Both of them tremendously climbed to approximately 90 times eaten hamburgers in 1985 and pizza 10 years later. Afterwards, pizza’s consumption stayed stable and hamburgers’ consumption soared steady to 100 in 1995 before going to a plateau.
