The chart below shows information about fuel used in the transport sector in different countries in Europe, compared to the EU average, in 2009 and 2010.
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of gasoline consumption for transit in 6 different nations, which belong to European Union, and compares with the EU average in 2 years between 2009 and 2010.
Looking at the graph, it is immediately obvious that Slovakia spent the most fuel in transport in the given years while the opposite was true for Greece. In addition, the EU average was higher than the figures for all countries, except for Slovakia.
In 2009, the transportation sector in Slovakia used nearly 9% of the total oil, double than Italy. The level of using fuel for moving in France and Spain was quite equal, approximately 5%. Greece was the country which consumed the least petrol, just above 1% and only one-fifth of Austria. Beside, the average percent of consuming fuel in EU was 6%.
One year later, the figure for Austria remained unchanged, at just over 5%. Slovakia and Spain decreased the amount of fuel, which was used in transportation, to about 6.5% and 4% respectively. Meanwhile, the rest of other countries witnessed an increase in those figures, correspondingly rough 5% for Italy, 2% for Greece and above 4% for France. European's average fuel consumption also fell 1% in the same year.
