The diagram shows the manufacturing process for making sugar
The given diagram illustrates about the multiple steps involved in production of sugar out of sugar cane.
Overall, this process involves growing, harvesting, crushing, purification, evaporation, centrifuging and ultimately drying and cooling.
In this process majority of time is spent on growing sugar canes. It is estimated to take 12 to 18 months to reach maturity. This is followed by harvesting of crops which is performed either manually or using a dedicated machine. Even though employing labourers is a much cheaper option comparing to investing on a machine, it is noteworthy that machine is extremely efficient mode than humans.
Subsequently these sugar canes are crushed to form the sugar juice in the factory, which is then purified by filtering through limestone filter. Filtered juice is heated and excessive fluid is evaporated so that syrup form of sugar is produced. During the next step syrup is sent through a centrifuge where it separates sugar crystals. Finally these crystals are cooled and dried before sending to the market.
