The reading and lecture are both about the consequences of team work. The author of the reading states that work can be accomplished efficiently when done in group. The lecturer disagrees. He mentions involvement of people create distinct opinion which results distraction in work and attacks each of the claim made in the article.
Firsly, the author begins by stating that team work offers varities of ideas and plans which allows team to response quickly to assigned task. The lecturer believes there are flaws in the writer’s position. He contends that since there are different point of view of group members, it takes time to come to a mutual decision. In addition, if any one of the member reject the other plan, they have to do further discussion to come to a conclusion.
Secondly, according to the writing, wide range of skills and expertise in a group allow creative solution to the problem. In addition, not a single member but everyone is accountable for the productive output. The speaker on other hand points out that if thje proposed decison gone wrong, everyone in a group is blamed.
Finally, the reading passage also notes that team work is very rewarding. The collective voice of a group is impactful and far reaching which won’t be the case while done in alone. Additionally, this provides aid for individual to shine and recognized in a mass. The professor rebuts this agrument. He puts forth the idea that since everyone should take an account for good or bad deeds by a member, it is not possible for a person to excell individually.
