The bar graph illustrates the differences in the maximum elephant population of nine Asian countries in 1997 and 2004.
Overall, there is a decline in the number of elephants in all the given countries except China and Cambodia and a major significant reduction has been seen in India, Malaysia, and Thailand by 2004.
In 1997 the maximum number of elephants in India was nearly 10,000 which decreased to 7500 by 2004. Similarly, Malaysia and Thailand comprises more than 2500 elephants in 1997 which dipped considerably to around 1000 in 2004.
The elephant population in Myanmar was doubled compared to Srilanka which was near 3000 and over 5000 respectively in 1997 which also depicts a slight reduction in 2004.However in contrast to other countries a slight improvement in elephant population in China and Cambodia over the years although which was hardly 1000 by 2004.
