The bar chart compares the percentage of renewable energy in the total energy supply in four various nations namely Australia, Sweden, Iceland, and Turkiye from 1997 to 2010.
Overall, there was an upward trend in both Sweden and Iceland, whereas Australia witnessed a downward trend. Noticeably, Iceland consistently remained in the highest position in the whole period.
In 1997, the proportion of renewable energy in Australia and Turkiye stood at 9% and 39%, respectively. Interestingly, the former decreased slightly by 2%, but the latter increased by 2% in the next 3 years. Thereafter, these two countries’ ratio of renewable energy simultaneously reduced to 5% and 32%.
Another striking feature is that while the percentage of Sweden showed a slight rise, a dramatic increase was recorded in the proportion of Iceland. In 1997, Iceland started at 46%, which was approximately eightfold to the beginning point of Sweden. Later on, the ratio of Iceland successively climbed and reached the peak of 70%, 61% higher than that of Sweden in 2010.
