In 1968,families spent on avarage 35% of their weekly income on food and it had the most spending compared to other items, each of which accounted for only 5 to 10%. Housing and leisure had the same spending range accouting for 10%. Among these, fuel and power was the lowest at 6%.
However, compared to 2018 food had a market change in expenditure,accouting only 17% weekly average family earning. On the other hand,housing and leisurre occupied the highest spending areas in 2018, making up from 10% and 9% in 1968 to 19% and 22% in 2018.
