The given table illustrates number of people speaking six languages (Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, Spanish, English, Arabic, and Portuguese) with a split on native and speakers using it as additional language. The numbers are in millions.
Overall, Mandarin Chinese is the most spoken language, followed by English. In contrast Portuguese and Arabic is least spoken language respectively. Although, English is second most spoken language, non-native speakers account for more than half the number of native English speakers, placing English in the most widely spoken language category by non-native speakers.
In terms, total number of speakers of Mandarin Chinese is at 1,090 million with 900 million native speakers and the remaining additional speakers constitute to 190 million. English spoken stands at 942 million with larger base od additional speakers (603 million) and natives at 339 million (nearly half). Hindi and Spanish speakers both account collectively to less than a billion (490 & 420) respectively. While Portuguese and Arabic languages are at the bottom of the table with 230 and 213 million speakers.
