Consumption of Spreads

The graph illustrates the information about the use of three spreads include margarine, low-fat and reduced spreads and butter over a 26-year period between 1981 and 2007. Units are measured in grams.
Overall, what stand out from the graph is that there was considerable the upward trend in eating Low-fat and reduced spreads, whereas the figure for butter had shown a dramatic decline. On the other hand, the consumption of margarine stayed unchanged over the period. Another interesting point is that Low-fat and reduced spreads appeared much later than others products but it rapidly ranked the first place in the graph in 2007.
Looking at the details, Butter is the most popular spread at the beginning in over 140 grams and continued to grow steadily in next five years, reached the peak about 160 grams in 1986. However, for the rest of period the figure for butter started going down sharply, dropping from 160 grams to just nearly 65 grams in 2007. By contrast, Low-fat and reduced spreads was a new production which has just emerged lately in 1996 with 10 grams but the use of it had an enormous rise reached the peak 90 grams in 2001 then ended the period with 70 grams.
Meanwhile, the consumption of Margarine has remained fairly constant over the period, fluctuating between 90 and 40 grams, a slight decrease.
