Will English remain to predominant language
Decades ago the English colonised 80% of the countries today. Leaving behind their education systems, technology and other infrastructure. Thus This resulted in the English language being the main language for communication of business for many countries across the globe. However, due to globalisation and the rapid expansion of population groups such as the Chinese, English may lose it’s its importance. In this essay, I will explore the changes in the business structure in the past couple of decades and its implication on the use of the English language.
Since the 1990’s China has become a power house powerhouse of a country, where 90% of all products produced are made in China. Making Chinese businessmen very wealthy and a force to be reckoned with. In the world today a product will be designed in one country and manufactured in another, for example, I-Phone is designed in California and manufactured in China to keep production costs to a minimum.
This requires business men across the globe to be able to communicate in Mandarin or Cantonese which is are the native Chinese languages. The Chinese population is one of the largest in the world and with the fast-growing population and demand for more products, businesses across the global are dependent on the Chinese for the mass production.
In conclusion, English speakers population are rapidly decreasing and other populations are expanding making the business environment a changing one. In future generations, the business world will require less and less English to be spoken.
