The graph illustrates how the consumption of different kinds of fast food of teenagers in Australia altered between 1975 and 2000.
In general, the amount of hamburgers and pizza grew significantly whereas that of fish and chips witnessed a moderate decrease over the time frame. In 1975, fish and chips are the most popular fast food among Australian teenagers while in 2000, the first position belonged to hamburgers.
Over 25 years, the consumption of hamburgers and pizza experienced similar trends, both starting at about 10 times eaten per year and reaching 100 and more than 80 times in 2000, respectively. In the first 10 years, the amount of hamburgers consumed rocketed by more than 70 times eaten per year. However, from 1985 onwards, the rate slowed down and leveled off in the last 5 years. Meanwhile, the consumption of pizza grew gradually from 1975 to 1995 and then remained the same until 2000.
In contrast, from 1975 to 1985, the consumption of fish and chips fluctuated between 80 and 100 times eaten per year, then seen a steady drop by approximately 40 times in the next 15 years.
