The charts below give information on the ages of the populations of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections in 2050.
The given list of charts compares and predicts the proportional change in the population of Italy and Yemen over a period of 50 years from 2000 to 2050.
Looking from the overall perspective, it is readily apparent that besides having a majority of adults, Italy is predicted to witness a significant rise in the proportion of aged people. However, with the opposite trend, Yemen will observe a sharp rise in the number of adults and children.
According to the given illustration, in 2000 in Yemen, over half of the population constituted young children, and more than 2 in every 5 people reported as adults(15-59 years). However, just 3.6% of the total population fell into the category of old people. In contrast, whilst nearly 3 out of 5 people in Italy belonged to age-group 15-59, just below a quarter recorded as aged and merely 14.3% were children.
Turning to predictions, after 5 decades, Yemen and Italy are expected to continue with a reverse trend in the context of adults and aged proportion. As with a slight uptick of 10%, the former will experience an upward trend in the adult's number, while the latter is expected to plummet sharply by 15%. Also, Italy will notice a dramatic spike in the aged population, up by nearly 2 times as against a 2% rise in Yemen. However, the percentage of children is predicted to be low by 13% and 3% respectively in Yemen and Italy by the end of the period.
