The plans below show a student room for two people and a student room for one person
at an Australian university.
Two diagrams below depicts distinguishable major differences in student rooms’ dispositions of an Australian university in relation to the number of students.
On a whole, spaces for one student appear simpler, cheaper and more comfortable but less convenient than those for two students. More than that, the area of the former in design is quite smaller than that of the latter.
The surrounding area of two types of room has the same length with 6 meters; however, a two-person room is nearly 2 meters wider than a one-person room. Clearly, all the fundamental necessities like bathroom, study desk, bed are well equipped but just different in number. Particularly, while the two-person room owns two beds and study desks both positioned separately by cupboards, the one-person room is laid out with one study desk behind a bed that create a free space in the middle of the room. Other household appliances like sink, stove, microwave in both types are arranged neatly together in the kitchen corner with the purpose of economizing the space of rooms. It can be seen easily that a couple of table and chairs that are found next to the entrance of the two-person rooms are eliminated from the furniture of the one-person room. By those arrangements mentioned above, it can be understood that student room of two people cost more highly than that for one person with only 200 dollars per week.
