The graph compares winter and summer in terms of the daily electricity demand in England. The pie chart illustrates the household appliances which consume electricity.
According to the graph, despite having almost the same fluctuating pattern, winter uses up more electricity than summer. As regards the pie chart, most electricity is spent on keeping heat.
As stated in the graph, electricity is used most at 21 o’clock in the winter, with around 45 units, while 6 o’clock is the time when people use the least electricity, making up only 30000 units. In the summer, people consume approximately 15000 units of electricity in the morning and this figure increases to just above 20000 units at 13 o’clock. This number drops slightly until it goes up again to reach 20000 units at 24 o’clock.
Through the pie chart, heating rooms, heating water makes up 52,5% of the total use of electricity, which is threefold that of ovens, kettles, washing machines. In contrast, lighting, TV, radio and vacuum cleaners, food mixtures, electric tools share the same figure at around 15%.
