Overall, it is clear both Japanese and Malaysian nationals used the largest proportion of their housing allowance budget on three categories namely lodging, food, other goods and services. Moreover, healthcare and transport expenditures by the former were double that of the latter.
According to the charts, supplementary goods and services engulfed the largest ratio of costs for, the Japanese accounting for 29% of the total expenditure which was slightly higher than that of Malaysians, which was 26%. On the other hand, the highest percentage in Malaysia was spent on accommodation costs, 34% which was marginally higher compared to 21% in Japan for the same category. Provision of food in Jap and Malaysia was narrowly at par, 24% and 27% respectively.
The percentages for healthcare, other goods and services in Jap were 6% and 20% respectively, with each category double that in Malaysia, 3% and 6% respectively.
