The graph represents the changes in the employment rates from 1995 to 2005 throughout six different countries, namely; Australia, Switzerland, Iceland, the UK, New Zealand and the USA. These countries can be divided into three different regions; Asia-Pacific for Australia and New Zealand, Switzerland, Iceland and the UK for European region and the USA.
Overall, the number of employment increased eventually and there have been significant improvements for women although they started late entering employment market compared to men.
To begin with, Asia Pacific region had the highest male employment rates of nearly 60% for both in 1995 and which increased by 10% within a decade. Similarly, female employment rate initiated at below 30% and this rose drastically to above 40% in the same periods.
In terms of European regions, it had the highest male and female employments in 2005. In 2005, 80% of male workers were from Iceland, for example, and female also recorded for the highest employment rates of nearly 70% for Switzerland. In 1995, the percentage of women and men workers was lower than that of 2005’s figure.
The percentage of working women jumped from 45% to 60% in the US while male workers rose from 60% to 70% in 1995 to 2005.
