The table below gives information about the underground railway systems in six cities.
The given table presents information about date opened, route distance and transport capacity per year of the subway systems in five major cities around the world including London, Paris, Tokyo, Washington DC, Kyoto and Los Angeles.
According to the figures on date opened, London subway system is oldest among the considered subway systems, which opened to public in 1863. The newest subway system is in Los Angeles, which have been operating since 2001, is almost 100 years later comparing to the second oldest Paris subway in 1900.
Regarding the data in the route distance category, the longest underground system in London with 394 km long, which is almost twice as long as the second longest underground system in Paris at 199 km, and approximately 35 times longer than the shortest the Kyoto subway system at 11 km in Japan. Subway systems in the Tokyo, Washington DC, Los Angles city have 155 km, 126 km, and 28 km respectively in travel distance.
Although having been the third oldest and third longest subway, Tokyo subway carries 1927 million passengers per year, the busiest subway listed in the table. The second oldest system has transport capacity at 1191 million passengers each year stays in second place in this category. The last place in transporting passenger occupies Kyoto subway system.
Interestingly, according to the table, it leads to some conclusions: the oldest subway in Europe, the busiest subway in Asia and the youngest subway in America.
