Overall, there is significant change in utilizing energy from different resources, oil was still the dominant source despite a decrease in its proportion. Conversely, this country became more dependent on natural gas, coal and renewable sources.
Regarding oil, there was the biggest proportion during 1985 and 2003, which comprised over half at 52%, followed by dramatic fall to 39%. Likewise, the consumption of nuclear power decreased substantially from roughly a quarter of the total energy volume to only 8%.
In contrast, natural gas went through a period of marked increased from 10% to 23% over eighteen-year period. Coal also experienced a nearly threefold rise to 22% from 8%, growing from 8% to 22%. However, after nearly two decades, the one exception is hydro power, which remained stable at 4%.
