You're working for a company. You need to take some time off work and want to ask your manager about this.

*suggest how your work could be covered while you're away.

Dear Sir,
I am writing this email to inform you that I need 3 days' of leave for attending my post-graduation exams. I would like to be grateful, if you could grant me leave on from 4th to 6th January 2017.
As i mentioned earlier in this mail, I received my exam timetable and there is no way to postpone the task, It would be more helpful, if i could get leaves on the mentioned date and reach the exam center before time, because as i am new to this city and not familiar with the public transportation facilities and places.
I will complete my assigned tasks before i leave for my exams. In addition, in the case of any emergencies, i will available on my phone except the exam hours. I can also access my emails once i reach back to my room in the evenings.

Your's Truely
