Tpo 43- Imagine that you are in a classroom or a meeting. The teacher or the meeting leader says something incorrect In your opinion, which of the following is the best thing to do?
-Interrupt and correct the mistake right away.
-Wait until the class or meeting is over and the people are gone, and then talk to the teacher or meeting leade.
-Say nothing.
Public speaking increases stress in most of the people. As we know, stress increases the possibility of making mistakes. If I attend a meeting and the meeting leader makes a mistake in delivering the speech, I will discuss it right away. I believe conferring about the fault in the meeting is the most appropriate time, since it provides advantages for the speaker and the listeners.
First, it reduces the chance of future mistakes. Indeed, a small mistake has the ability to make a huge trouble. If I correct the lecturer during his speech, I provide a chance for the other audiences to learn the correct content, so I prevent this small mistake to growth. To shed light on my point further, let’s assume a professor has made a mistake in the presenting a topic of the method of teaching course and the audiences are going to be future teachers and professors. If they learn something incorrect, they will use incorrect method for teaching. Accordingly, it has an effect on the educational system of the country. In addition, noticing the incorrect content enhances professor attention on his speech. As a matter of fact, the lack of attention could be the reason of the professor mistakes. Therefore, his concentration will increase by noticing the errors that he has made.
Second, it facilitates learning the process. In fact, bother storming and discussing a topic in class increases learning efficiency. The professor can use this situation to ask other students' opinions and lead to think about that specific topic deeper. Participation in discussion helps students to see the topic from varieties of viewpoints which gives him wider view about the content. Moreover, this feedback helps professor to become aware of the knowledge of his students and their attention to presented material in the classroom. This feedback can be used for improving further material that is going to present in class. Consequently, the future subject will be conferred in higher quality.
In conclusion, I believe that noticing lecturer's mistake during the class reduces the chance of future mistakes and increases learning efficiency.
