problems with a painting of Rembrandt

Essay topics:

problems with a painting of Rembrandt

The article states that there are problems with a painting of Rembrandt that suggest it could not be a work by him and provides three reasons pf support. However, the professor explains that by several examinations and analysis it is proved that the painting is original, and refutes each of the auther's reasons.
First, the reading claims that there is something inconsistent about the way the woman in the portrait is dressed. The professor refutes this point by stating that a luxurious fur collar was added by someone about one hundred years after the painting was created, in order to increase the value of the painting.
Second, the article posits that light and shadow do not fit together in this painting, while Rembrandt would never have made such an error. However, the professor says that in the original painting the woman wore a light cloth that illiminate her face, and it is looked realistic, but by adding the fur collar, it seems that the light and shadow do not fit together.
Third, the letter averts that the painting was on a panel made of several pieces of wood glued together, while Rembrandt often painted on a single wood panel. The lecture opposes this point by explaining that someone added some extra pieces of wood to the original panel to enlarge it and show it more grand and also, make it more worthy. In addition the examinations proved that the wood which is used in this panel is as same as other his work.
