The charts below show the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010.
The given pie charts give information about the percentage of British students who could speak foreign languages except for their mother tongue at a university in England between 2000 and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen that the most popular second language among British pupils in this college was Spanish between two periods of time, while there were the least students who can speak German.
The most significant feature is that 30% of students could speak Spanish only, which was the highest figures at the beginning of the period, and in a decade, its rate increased by 5%. Similarly, those who speak another language accounted for 15% in 2000, and in the final year, comprised of 20%. In light of students speaking two other languages were just 10% in 2000, and also soared to 15% in 2010.
In contrast, more or less half of students do not know how to speak other languages at all in 2000, but in a decade, its figure showed a considerable decrease to 10%. Besides, 15% of British students knew how to speak French in 2000; however, its statistics declined by 5% in 2010. In the meanwhile, during both periods, there were the same proportion of pupils at the university, who were only able to speak German with 10%.
