The presented pie charts compare four retail sectors in terms of the percentage of Internet market share they occupied in 2005 and 2010.
Generally, it is evident that substantial changes were shown in all four categories. However, while the figures for video games as well as food and beverage increased, those of home furnishing and electronics & appliance expressed opposite trends.
Turning into detail, electronics and appliances was estimated as the largest sector among 4 categories in 2005 with 35% of online sales, followed by a 25 – per cent rate of home furnishings. However, both sectors expressed significant declines five years later: when the percentage of home furnishings plunged to 15%, that of electronics appliances decreased by 5%.
By contrast, there were upward trends in percentages of food and beverage also video games. Indeed, accounting for 18% in 2005, the figure for video games grew sharply to reach 23% in 2010. Likewise, that of food and beverage increase considerably by 10% after 5 years, surpassing electronics and appliances as the largest sectors among 4 categories.
