Carbon cycle
The diagram presents how the carbon cycle happens in nature. On the whole, it is a cyclical process which consists of four stages.
At the first stage, carbon dioxide from the atmosphere participates in the process of photosynthesis in plants on the ground, for example, in a tree. The light from the sun is an important factor, which makes this process happen. Following this step of photosynthesis, organic carbon from the plants goes into the ground below them. There, it is mixed with decay organisms, dead organisms, and waste products; thus, fossils and fossil fuels are formed as one of the side effects of the cycle. Subsequently, via the plant’s root and general respiration carbon transforms into carbon dioxide, which proceeds back into the atmosphere. Living beings, for instance, animals, also take part in the cycle through their respiration, breathing out carbon dioxide into the air. Humans influence the carbon cycle as well; emissions from the factories and plants they build contain carbon dioxide, which is emitted into the air to later participate in the photosynthesis stage
