You are a student at an English language school in Brighton and are living in private accommodation with other flat mates. You have not had hot water or heating for some time. The landlord’s workmen have tried to fix the problem but without success. Write a letter to your landlord. In your letter:
• State your reason for writing
• Describe the problems and explain how you feel
• Propose a solution and risk the landlord to take action.
Dear Mr. Sharma,
I am a student of Campbell English language school, and I along with my other friends are staying in your apartment number 253 building 2 for last 1 year. I had not faced any issue with it till last night.
However, yesterday, when I came back home, I found that geyser in my bathroom was not working. As it is month of extreme cold, I am finding it very difficult to manage without hot water in the bathroom. Also, there is some leakage from the tap of kitchen since last few days. Therefore, I am writing this letter to draw your attention towards the problems that I am facing at your apartment.
After multiple requests for service, your workmen came and tried to fix the issues. Leakage from the tap is fixed; however, the bathroom geyser still does not work. Therefore, I had to call a plumber by myself to get it fixed but he mentioned that heating element of the geyser is irreparable and geyser needs to be replaced. Meanwhile, I am using gas stove to heat the water but it is quite time consuming.
I suggest you to kindly get a new geyser installed as current one is too old to be repaired.
I am looking forward to your cooperation.
Yours sincerely
Ruchi Verma
