You are applying for a job and need a letter of reference.
Write a letter to a former teacher. In your letter:
give details of the job
explain why it is important to you
suggest what information your teacher could put in the reference
Dear Mr Nam,
This is John Smith, I was your Graduate Research Assistant for the Batch of 2009 at the University of Missouri. Hope you and your family are doing great. I am writing with regards to a reference letter I need for a job I am applying to.
The position is with Tesla and the role is that of a Senior Design Engineer Mechanical. They are looking for someone who has experience in the design of composite materials and their testing.
As you are aware that Tesla is one of the leading companies in our field of work. Getting a chance to work there would be an incredible opportunity to advance my career and work on some innovative technologies.
Since my research at the university was related to composite materials and testing their properties and strengths, I would greatly appreciate if you can add my project abstract details to the reference letter. It will greatly bolster my chances of obtaining an interview and hopefully the job.
Thank you for your mentorship and guidance and please let me know if you have any questions.
Yours sincerely,
John Doe
