The diagram illustrates the step-by-step procedure for converting geothermal energy into electricity. Overall, the method to produce current using geothermal energy is divided into five major steps, firstly cold water, secondly the injection well, thirdly the production well, fourthly condenser and finally generator turbine. The 1st, 4th and 5th steps are performed on the surface of the earth while the 2nd and 3rd phases are executed beneath the earth.
The cold water from the top of the surface is pumped 4.5km inside the injection well, which then passes through geothermal zone made from hot rocks. This zone heats the water and connects to the production well that pushes hot water outside on the surface in the condenser. Furthermore, the condenser boils H2O until vaporised, this precedes us to the final stage of electricity manufacturing.
The last phase of electricity generation is divided into 2 sub-parts. In part, one turbine is powered in a circular motion by the steam collected in phase 4, in order to generate electricity that is then stored in the generator (part 2 of phase 5) that passes the current to the powerhouse ready to be supplied to the consumers.
