Overall, the total population increased and continue this trend in the future. It is clear that the vast majority of the population ages from 0 to 64. Additionally, while other age groups show upward patterns, 0-64 group demonstrates the opposite.
Initially, the total population was approximately 38 miilions, it grew to 58 million in the next 8 decades and is projected to reach 64 million in 2021. In 1991, The 0-64 group accounted for 95% of the population. However, this figure declined by 12% in 1981 and is speculated to plunge down to 78%.
The population aging 65-84 held the share of only 4% in 1901 but this proportion quadrupled in 1981 and is projected to stay the same in 2021. Noticeably, 1% of the country’s citizens aged over 85. Nonetheless, the percentage is expected to witness a mighty growth by 5% in 2021.
