The charts below show the performance of a bus company in terms of punctuality, both actual and target (what actually happened compared to what the company was trying to achieve), and the number of complaints and passengers.
The first graph illustrates the proportion of punctual services divided into two groups of actual and target from 1999 to 2003. In the same period, the second bar chart shows how many complaints were made per thousand passenger’s trips.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that while the percentage of on time buses decreased throughout the given period, there was no clear pattern for the buses that arrived on schedule. Additionally, the number of complaints experienced an upward trend with minor fluctuations.
In 1999, the company’s goal of on time buses started at 86%, which was 1% higher than the actual figure. In the next year, while the company kept the target, the result they got in real life significantly declined to just about 82% in 2000. In the next two year, although there was a reduction in the target to about 85%, the percentage of actual buses arriving on time dramatically climbed to about 84.5% before falling to 84% in 2002. At the end of the period, while the target slightly decreased, the actual on schedule buses hit the peak of nearly 85%, slightly higher than the target.
At the same time, starting at about 70 complaints in 1999, the number of dissatisfied feedback sharply rose to about 100 in the next year. In the last 3 years, while there was a decrease to about nearly 85 complaints in 2001, this figure considerably went up and hit its peak of 120 complaints in 2003.
