The pie charts compare the percentage of British students at an English university who could use languages other than English in two different years, namely 2000 and 2010. It is evident from the charts that students using Spanish made up the largest proportion in both years, then increased and still dominated the overall in 2010.
In 2000, there was about 30% of students who were able to speak Spanish, which doubled the figure for French and another language except for mentioned ones in the charts . The percentage of people having the ability to use German and two other languages at the university were the same, at around 10% each. On the other hand, about 20% of British students did not know any kind of foreign languages .
In 2010, there was a minimal rise in the percentage of people using Spanish to about 35%. This proportion over tripled the figures for French, German and English only. Meanwhile, students being able to speak another language and two other ones experienced the growth of 5% between the given period, to 20% and 15% respectively.
