Sometimes it is better not to tell the truth.
What is your opinion?
You should write at least 250 words
People have different views on what is right and what is wrong. There are some who believe that at times it is advisable not to disclose complete facts while others do not agree. In my opinion, honesty is always the best policy even when it may seem difficult at the time. This essay will discuss in detail the reasons why one should always choose to speak the truth.
Firstly, one of the main motives behind hiding the truth is to avoid hurting the other person. People always want to protect their near and dear ones' and therefore, abstain from speaking the truth. This however, is a wrong approach as eventually when the truth is out, they might feel betrayed. For example, a leading psychologist in her recent article claimed that more than 40% of her clients felt extremely hurt because their spouses chose to hide their affairs rather than being open or more vocal about it . Moreover, one must understand that facts cannot be hidden forever and that the truth will ultimately see the light of the day.
Another reason to always choose speaking the truth is the opportunity it gives the receiver to improve his or her shortcomings. Many a times, speaking facts comes with an added advantage of identifying the weak areas which a person can work upon and overcome. For instance, when a teacher is honest and tactful without being hurtful in giving feedback about a child's academic performance, the child can do wonders by improving his skills and working on the weaker points. Hence, assuming that being honest and truthful is not a better option is wrong.
To conclude, one must be honest and truthful at all times under any circumstance. This essay discussed how the truth will ultimately hurt if not disclosed at the right time and how the receiver can use it as an opportunity to overcome his shortfalls.
