The bar chart compares the percentage of shares of expenditures for five main categories, including food, housing, transportation, health care and clothing in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan in 2009.

From the general perspective, the clear data could be observed that the majority of countries' expenditure was on housing, except in Japan, while the minority of spending was on health care, except in the United States.

It is evident from the information provided that the United States was the highest proportion of expenditure on housing at over a quarter, followed by transportation and food, while spending on clothing was the lowest rate at under 5%. Similarly, the most percentage of expenditure of people in Canada and the United Kingdom spent on housing at 21% and 24$ respectively and health care was the less of spending, both areas stayed at under 5%. Exceptionally, the Japanese paid the most money on food at roundly 23%.

In the period 2009, Japan was at the top of the proportion of expenditure on food to compare with the other regions, the United States was the lowest. Nevertheless, American's expenditure rate on housing was the highest. Meanwhile, Canada's spending rate on transportation (20%) was higher than the others. Surprisingly, the Japanese paid less money for health care at around 2%, compared with 7% in the United States. Lastly, all countries spent a little money on clothing, the average at around 5%.
